Book 5! Rebekah in Danger

I am always trying to find books that my younger sister will find interesting or that will keep her attention... Not to easy to say the least! I did find one that I know she will like its called Rebekah in Danger by Colleen L. Reece. It kept my attention through every page and I had a hard time putting it down. It had adventure after adventure. It seems to be quite graphic for some who are younger but it shows the struggle through the eyes of children on the mayflower and Plymouth. It was graphic with the deaths and severe sickness but it was a reality to so many who came to settle here in America. It ended up being a great read and will be passing it on to my little sister today.

Book 4! Criminal Justice

Yes I know most think I'm extremely boring because I read a college text book for the fun of it, but I can't help myself it had some of the most interesting stories. It was so educational considering my major is Criminal Justice. It gave me quit a bit of helpful in site to the field I am trying to get into. Some things I read were extremely disturbing, such as the criminal reporter that stated, "its time to change professions when you catch yourself saying "its just another dead baby story"...". This was not only a reality check for me but it showed those who will read that to choose your profession according to your personality and never do anything with a high stress volume for a extended period of time. Criminal Reporting has taken highly expressive and emotional people to a place they never could have imagined they would end up. They turned cold to death and crime scenes. It has taken them hours, months, and sometimes years of therapy to get their emotional connection to people back. It is extremely disturbing to think a person can change that much just from a job environment.
DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE PICKING A PROFESSION OR ACCEPTING A JOB POSITION!!

Book 3! The Ringmaster's Secret

Yes! Its a Carolyn Keene Nancy Drew mystery and I can't help but love it! I am crazy about mysteries and anything to do with crime. This book is an amazing read. There's just something about a classic mystery that you want to curl up with a blanket and a cup of hot coffee while its raining. Its so relaxing to sit with an amazing book!
My favorite part of this book was the family circus theme. Its not something you read about all the time and you learn allot along with enjoying the story. I especially like how she has Nancy doing trick riding and then places her in the circus itself. I won't spoil it for anyone but the drama and the suspense is thrilling. I love this book its great!

Book 2! The Battered Child

I was sitting in the office where I work and seen a book called The Battered Child by Ray E. Helfer and Ruth S. Kempe, it was sent over for a student, so of course I thumbed through it and liked what I seen. So I read the first page to see if it could get and keep my attention. At the end of the day, after page 22, I Prayed it would be there the next day and thank you God it was. I did a little happy dance which made everyone start laughing and started reading again. This book saved me from dying of boredom at work because I am used to staying very very busy and this job is a little slower paced.
I couldn't believe some of the things I was reading but at the same time I could. I have been friends with law enforcement officers for many years. I have also studied forensics and law enforcement for a while, you hear some wild and sometimes all together unbelievable stories. This book held unexpected blows and at times nearly put me in tears. As I read a few short stories from the text aloud coworkers were astonished and petrified that a person could do those things to a child. The worst I heard was one of a young girl who was telling her therapist about her childhood, she told of her father being the only person who loved her. This statement blew me away after I finished reading her story (will not go into great detail because of the extreme child abuse and incest). I feel allot more educated about child abuse and neglect. I was truly amazed and discussed.

P.S. Do not read this book if you have a weak stomach or are easily disturbed! I wouldn't advise anyone to read this who wasn't over the age of 18 it is very disturbing and has sent people to tears while reading it.

Book 1! Flint

Well my first book is done! I thought I would start my year off with a BANG and decided to read Flint by Louis L'amour! This book was better than I expected it would be.. I was blown away by every chapter.. I was reading at work, through boring insignificant college lectures, and leaned up against the wall in an upright position while changing diapers and finishing dinner. I finished this one in two days and sat on the edge of my seat through the entire book.. Louis is a genius! I can't believe how every time you turned the page the picture was painted in great detail before you as if you were walking through the most amazing adventure of your life...
It all starts when his guardian, Flint, took him up as an abandoned child in a ghost town he taught him everything from how to shoot and never miss to how to hide everything in your mind and keep nothing on paper. After his guardian was killed at a bar over a supposed card game gone bad James killed those that had held Flint down and shot him to death. After that day he left for the east he hated the things of the west and never wanted to return. He became high in power and extremely wealthy.. After marrying a woman who wanted nothing less than his money he soon realized she was out to kill him because she couldn't get in head or pry and information about his business out of him. After he was nearly killed he realized what was going on then soon after was diagnosed with a terminal cancer... He was slick and smart no one every expected what they encountered with this gentle yet mysterious man. So he inadvertenly got everything prepared to disappear once and for all. His destination, Malpias, the deserted volcanic wasteland where no man or animal could live yet a man needed none other than this place where a secret hideout laid waiting for him to live out his thought to be last few days of his existence. One wrong step and he's done for but this man knows this land all too well.. There begins an exciting and thrilling adventure of a life time!
This book is so exciting and intriguing! I love it and will be reading this one again! Can't wait to start another book.. This is going to be an amazing year of reading!!
Until then,
